My Morning Routine

Alarm rings, hit snooze, panic, jump out of bed.

When I got my Still Classics weekly planner, it prompted me to write down 2 morning rituals which at the time could be summed up as wake up and get to work.

I really didn’t think having a defined morning routine was important but I figured it was worth a try. After giving it a lot of thought, some trial and error and over ambitious goals, here’s what I came up with.

Wakeup  between 6:15 & 6:30

Meditate for 10 - 15 mins (Insight timer or Melissa Wood Health app are my go to’s)

Pilates for 30 mins at home or a class at Lagree West (if my plan is to move my body in the am)

Skincare (yes it’s part of my routine)

Coffee - one of the things I’m working on is actually enjoying my coffee instead of mindlessly drinking it while doing a million other things

Start work by 8:30am

If I workout at home or plan on doing that in the evening, I find I have some extra time to scroll through instagram, do some class planning and take care of my never ending list of personal administration.

Working backwards from what time I want to start work has not only helped me create a realistic and flexible morning routine that I’ve come to love and actually look forward to, but it’s made me realize that I don’t need to wake up as early as I thought to set my day up for success. Getting a little extra sleep is definitely something I can get behind.
